The relationship between claims and evidence is that you cannot have one without the other. They must corroborate, meaning that the clains you make must have evidence to back them up. This is important because if you just have a lot of claims and no eveidence or vice versa, people that are reading your writing may not get a good idea of what you are trying you to proove or explain.
When you are writing and secondary sources are involved, being able to gather information or evidence and make claims is one thing. But being able to make claims from those secondary sources and prooving it with proper evidence is the key point. Again the most important thing to remember is that your claims and evidence need to corroborate with one another.
