Primary Source

The primary source I chose to analyze is a song by Jack Johnson, "Anything but the Truth." It is a slow acoustic song that has a lot of meaning of truth in it. My secondary sources include some books and articles on the Jack Johnson himself. This was done to get a better background of the artist and to find out ways he likes to express his ideas in songs. I am also trying to find actual articles or reviews about the actual song to see if there is any contraversy in the way I analyzed the song.
I will use these secondary sources to aid me in going in depth with the song. These sources should help me find any arguments that deal with the song which will be extrapulated with my paper. These sources will also help me to find similarities in which my analysis agrees with.

The relationship between claims and evidence is that you cannot have one without the other. They must corroborate, meaning that the clains you make must have evidence to back them up. This is important because if you just have a lot of claims and no eveidence or vice versa, people that are reading your writing may not get a good idea of what you are trying you to proove or explain.
When you are writing and secondary sources are involved, being able to gather information or evidence and make claims is one thing. But being able to make claims from those secondary sources and prooving it with proper evidence is the key point. Again the most important thing to remember is that your claims and evidence need to corroborate with one another.

For my PSA assignment, I will be writing about a song by Jack Johnson call "Anything but the Truth". This song has always been a favorite of mine and I believe I am going to enjoy writing about it. If I ever get nervous or just need to blow some steam off, I enjoy listening to this or any of Jack Johnson's songs. Johnson's style is most of the time very acoustic where the only instrument being played is a guitar. When I listen to him, I feel like I am on a beach listening to someone play outside a tiki bar. And maybe that is why I enjoy him so much since the beach is one of my favorite places to go.
I believe the song that I am choosing can really be broken down analytically and have a lot more meaning once broke down. Johnson tends to use a lot of symbolism and I am looking forward to analyzing one of my favorite artists and his song, "Anything but the Truth."
